Director, Strategic Initiatives
Will oversee strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution under the guidance of the CCO. Communicate with CCO and key stakeholders in decision-making, program management, process improvement, and initiative implementation. This is not an administrative role; it is highly strategic and facilitative one that requires a combination of focus and flexibility, as well as a willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role. The role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and strong analytical skills.
Direct Support of the CCO:
Assist with setting strategic priorities: Helping identify the areas where focus needs to be directed and identifying metrics for success. Revisiting regularly and evaluating progress
Strategically managing a leader’s time: working with assistant, looking at long term travel calendar, evaluating opportunities and determining fit with priorities
Meeting preparation and follow up: reviewing upcoming meetings for the week to ensure the leader has all of the information needed to be as productive as possible and sending out agendas or documents to meeting attendees as necessary in collaboration with assistant
Reviewing Internal and External Communications: reports or presentations
Monitoring information flow: Sometimes acting as a gatekeeper, ensuring a CCO’s involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment
Process Improvement/Change Management:
The driving force for managing improvement initiatives across teams to deliver business benefits
Perform project management, analytics, and measure to ensure milestones are met and deliverables achieved
Coordinate with various teams to analyze project results and performance
Creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance
Leading of processes connected to change management. Preparation of forecasts, and evaluation of the actual impact of changes. Cooperation with respective project teams andmanagers involved in the organizational change
Meeting & Event Preparation:
Managing the overall management meeting cadence for CCO, ensuring materials are sent in advance, time is well spent, and objectives are achieved
Assist with planning and leading company off-sites or other special events
Help ensure participants are aware of and prepared for the meeting
Attend meetings, capture major take-aways, and ensure follow-up
Monitor progress/achievement of next steps
Develop and maintain an inventory of critical path projects
Overseeing large, often cross-functional organization-wide projects or initiatives
Bring together multiple stakeholders and help drive decisions
Researching, benchmarking, analyzing data, and making recommendations
Leadership of Special Projects:
Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick-turnaround projects with minimal outside assistance
Present ideas for special projects that might facilitate CCO’s objectives
Work with appropriate stakeholders, including outside parties, to undertake analysis
Present findings to Executive staff or Board, as appropriate
If necessary, oversee transfer of the project to other stakeholders within the organization
Minimum of 10+ years senior level program management, management consulting, and/or process improvement experience with leading companies, including experience with organization-wide continuous improvement programs (like Change Management, Baldrige, Six Sigma, etc.).
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organization and successfully work in a matrixed environment.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills, able to plan and lead structured meetings.
Strong working knowledge of continuous improvement tools (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean, Change Management, Workout, etc.), problem solving / root cause analysis and process management.
Travel Required: 50%
MBA or relevant graduate degree.
Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
Facilitation certification (Effective/Master Facilitator).
Project Management Institute (PMP) certification.
Experience in a health care services (technology, services, or distribution) environment
