The Title, Point of Use (POU) Products plays a critical leadership role within Omnicell as the global product leader for one of Omnicell’s core product areas – distributed medication automation. In your capacity as the product leader, you will own overall product performance and delivery for Point of Use products, including today's products and future products with Point of Use applications. As the product family leader, you will monitor and report on overall product performance working collaboratively to ensure performance meets objectives. You will define, own and drive the overall product roadmap and collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, service, engineering and other teams to ensure timeline delivery of products to market, meeting customer and market needs, as well as internal, cross functional needs.

The position requires understanding of health system pharmacy point of use needs and pain points, as well as creativity in defining and responding to new areas where Point of Use products might be applicable - e.g., ambulatory care settings. To drive initiatives forward, the Title, must know how to define and validate market opportunity, build business cases and translate market and customer needs into product and service requirements. You will also be responsible for understanding and responding to the requests of multiple market facing business units and be adept at defining priorities and trade-off for your product family.

You must demonstrate understanding of the technical elements of product development along with the business acumen required to execute. You will be responsible for leading the management of development through all phases of the product family’s lifecycle. You will lead and guide stakeholders to clearly define the product requirements and objectives. With ultimate responsibility for the vision, performance and execution of the solutions, you will manage the timelines as well as direct all cross-functional resources, including engineering, marketing, manufacturing and service.

Pulling from your own leadership background, you will provide direction and guidance to your team which will include direct responsibility for Product Managers and Agile Product Owners and leadership of the entire POU Core Team.

Responsibilities:

Develop a product scorecard and quarterly business reviews to govern the performance of the product family and individual products relative to plan and product objectives

  • Working collaboratively with sales, marketing, finance, operations, service and others, define an overall performance scorecard, working to populate performance results monthly

  • Analyze opportunities for improvement based on performance results and work collaboratively to motivate improvements as needed; celebrate success

  • Leverage the scorecard and overall marketing opportunity and TAM to drive product goals across the organization during annual planning and quarterly

  • Participate in portfolio review and investment discussions to drive appropriate allocation of resources to create product and market success

Develop a comprehensive and multi-year and generational business and product plan for the product family, focusing on critical market segments and market needs, platform strategies, end of life plans and strategies, and end-to-end operations strategy

  • Understand the market, multiple market segments, and long-term customer needs

  • Define, evaluate, and prioritize market needs and requirements

  • Create new product or enhancement concepts / themes

  • Build business cases to validate investment in new products or product enhancements

  • Establish benefit / value of product requirements

  • Define and establish market alpha and beta roll out periods, market acceptance criteria, minimum viable product, definition general availability of products, post release development

  • Prioritize market requirements for engineering

  • Ensure products are priced to meet market and corporate objectives working collaboratively with marketing, sales, finance, manufacturing and others

  • Understand the market, customer and competitive environment and competitive pricing strategies

  • Work within corporate pricing structures to recommend product pricing collaborating to ensure overall portfolio pricing meets requirements

  • Collaborate with other key leaders and teams across the organization

  • Work collaboratively with other Product Managers, Marketing, Sales, Service and other cross functional organizations on product family, cross-product and portfolio solutions

  • With product marketing, drive market launch activities and work collaboratively to influence commercial strategies

  • Coordinate with External Validation (EV) managers to define and gather input from successful EVs

  • Lead cross-functional core team to plan and develop products in your product family from concept approval to stable operations with representatives from other functional areas such as:

  • Hardware Engineering, System Engineering, Software Development Engineering, Marketing, Service, Quality Assurance, Operations , Manufacturing, and Finance

  • Guide team members directly involved in the project to have authority to represent and make commitments for their respective organizations

  • Maintain accountability to the Product Management Committee (PMC) for the business case of the product under development

  • Communicate all key business results of the solutions; project status, impediments and resource requirements

Partner with dedicated Product Project/Program Managers to ensure that projects are tracking to schedule, budget and time commitments. The XX, Product Management will work with the Program Managers and other business unit leads to optimize resources across the product family as needed

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to think strategically and translate strategy into product plans and programs

  • Ability to drive tactically always maintaining a big picture view of your product family and its performance

  • Excellent communications skills: written, verbal, group presentations

  • Flexibility to partner with and negotiate with colleagues, customers, vendors at all levels within and outside the organization

  • Effective leadership skills and ability to listen, communicate and motivate teams to achieve results

  • Ability to guide and mentor colleagues for effective decision-making and leadership abilities

  • Possess positive attitude and creativity in generating solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ Years of experience in Product Management and Development with healthcare products and services including Hardware based products

  • Demonstrable experience managing mature products and product families that represent a significant proportion of corporate revenue and bottom line

  • 5 plus years’ experience managing full product life-cycle

  • 5 plus years’ experience in high growth, mid-market companies, driving overall product growth and performance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience with Capital Equipment desirable

  • Broader experience in other disciplines helpful including operations, marketing, sales, finance

Work Conditions:
