Omnicell has an opening for a Software Engineer I to join our Software Engineering Team located in Cranberry Township, PA. As a platform team member, you will work with a team of engineers on our cloud data platform that streams data from a variety of health care software and hardware systems in real-time to create transformational recommendations for our customers. Each day you will make a positive impact in healthcare while working with the latest technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop custom real-time streaming data pipelines working within the MapReduce ecosystem using Spark streaming

  • Resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches

  • Have a quality mindset, squash bugs with a passion, and work hard to prevent them in the first place through unit testing, test-driven development, version control, continuous integration and deployment.

  • Be passionate about solving customer problems and develop solutions that result in a passionate customer/community following

  • Operate within an Agile Development environment and apply the methodologies

  • Creative, independent, self-motivated and willing to learn new technology

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 2+ years’ experience in software engineering and 1+ years’ experience with big data pipeline

  • Demonstrable experience with Spark and Spark Streaming

  • Basic knowledge of Big Data querying tools, such as Pig or Hive

  • Experience with Scala or Java language

  • Experience with messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master Degree

  • 3+ years’ experience in software engineering

  • 1+ years’ experience with Spark streaming

  • Experience working in a cloud platform such as AWS, Microsoft Azure

  • Demonstrable understanding of Service Oriented Architecture

  • 2+ years’ experience with Scala or Java Language as it relates to product development.
